Grand Targhee Ski Resort
The image above was taken from our back deck. This is our local ski resort called Grand Targhee, where we do most of our skiing.
The day was perfect. Four runs through eight plus inches of light fluffy snow. Very few people out on a Monday morning so every run was in untracked powder.
Earlier that morning I had meditated on this scripture and put “skiing” in the blank. “If anyone serves Me (skiing), let him follow Me…”
What Does This Look Like?
On my next ride up the chairlift I would find out.
Nearing the top I saw a skier struggling uphill through deep snow. He had lost a ski and it was tough going in the bottomless powder. He was in an area not many ski in. I rarely go there.
Then came the Spirit inspired thought, “Go get his ski for him.”
“What?” I thought. “Somebody else will help him. If not, he’ll eventually get to it.”
I already had my next run planned and assisting this guy would cause me to miss some great powder.
Definition of Honor
Next thought, “If anyone serves Me (skiing), him my Father will honor.”
I caught myself, “Right. Serving Him might mean denying myself.”
So I made my way down to his buried ski, picked it up and delivered it to him.
Of course he was grateful, and I really didn’t miss out on anything as I made the rest of my way down. In fact, it was really good snow.
