“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.” (1 Corinthians 9:24)
Defining Success
Sports Superstars are a success in the eyes of the world. But success for a Christian can be defined as finding God’s will for your life… and doing it.
God ordained you with a specific vision in mind… your vocation. You are uniquely created to reach the people around you. Don’t try to be someone you’re not.
I’ve spent a lifetime reminding myself of this truth. Coming to terms with who I am in Christ has been a great source of freedom and power to fulfill my purpose in life.
Be Yourself
We’re not all Olympic athletes, but you can reach people these athelets cannot. Your spectators will see Christ revealed in you as you rely on God’s grace to do your specific work.
“But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?” (Romans 10:14)
When you’re at peace being yourself you’re just the right seasoning for the people God sends you to. Christ shines in you. You are being the Church at work, home or wherever.
In our next several devotionals we will use Olympic stories that will inspire you to run your race to receive the prize- your life’spurpose fulfilled.
