“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us: establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands.” (Proverbs 90:17)
The Stonemason’s High Noble Calling
Three stonemasons were building a cathedral when a stranger wandered by. The first stonemason was toting rocks to a pile near a wall.
“What are you doing?” asked the stranger.
“Can’t you see that I’m carrying rocks?”
The stranger asked the second laborer, “What are you doing?”
“I’m building a wall,” he replied.
A few steps away, the stranger came upon a third mason. “What are you doing?” he asked.
This worker smiled, “I’m building a cathedral to the glory of God!”
Same Paycheck, Different Missions
Your paycheck can reflect something big or something small. It all depends on your perspective.
As far as God is concerned, He’s already determined what He thinks about it. He originally made mankind in the image of God, to be stewards over the planet earth.
This was a high noble calling from God’s perspective.
Man was to do everything for the glory of God. Things changed when sin came into the picture, but God’s original plan never changed.
So God became a man, Jesus, the Son of Man who became our salvation on the cross. Now seated at the right hand of God, Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to live in you so you can glorify God in all you do.
The favor of the Lord our God rests upon you.
How awesome is that!
Now any job you do, if you choose to work for God’s glory, reflects the high noble calling of your daily work.
