Good Tidings For You

good tidings

“Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.” (Luke 2:8)

Healing On The Job

One Sunday a humble member of our congregation shared an experience he had at work.

While watching a taped worship service he felt a tingling in his knee. He had injured it playing various sports and was having some chronic pain.

As he began to move it he realized the pain was gone! A deep sense of God’s love began to fill him with joy. Laughter followed as he realized what had happened.

God healed his knee while at work, when he least expected it. This was not something he was looking for or thinking about.

Angels We Have Heard On High

The same goes for the shepherds doing their job. When they least expected it, an angel shows up with the news…

“Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11)

Born to you… the one out doing your work every day. That’s why we love this Christmas story so much.

God didn’t choose to first announce the Good Tidings to kings, religious leaders, or celebrities on societies guest list.

He chose the shepherds who were out in the fields with the sheep making a living. They were supernaturally touched that night and then went and told everyone about Jesus. Their story is now part of God’s eternal word.

It’s no different today. God still touches people in the marketplace. He still uses people like you who know God’s love to tell others about the Good News of God’s good will towards men.

When you’re wondering if God will bless you… remember the shepherds!
